The Ecumenical Catholic Church is an independent Catholic church. So it does not answers to the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Rome, known worldwide as the Pope based in the Vatican State. Since the Reformation and The Utrecht Declaration, dozens of independent Catholic churches have been founded. Some have apostolic succession and others do not. For those with apostolic succession, the Council of Trent and Pope Benedict XVI affirmed that the sacraments of independent Catholic churches are valid (theologically) but not legitimate (recognized by the Roman Catholic Church).

The Ecumenical Catholic Church has an apostolic succession. Our succession comes from Saint Peter and Saint Andrew. We are ecumenical because we accept the first 7 councils of the Church.
